Postal voting continued into the early 1970s, except in 1971 when, due to a postal strike, regional juries were used. Until 1975 A Song for Europe formed part of Cliff Richard, Cilla Black, Jimmy Savile and Lulu's regular shows.
There were a number of changes in 1976 as it once again became a programme in its own right. As it was getting harder to find a well-known singer or band to agree to take part, from now on different acts would perform each song; meanwhile regional juries were reintroduced due to falling numbers of postal votes. The 1977 and 1979 contests were not televised due to industrial action.
