Comments: This web site is very well made. It is wonderful to see the Xmas idents again, most of them I have forgotton and others brings back memories. Christmas is the best season, being with the family and watching festive films. I have been everywhere on the internet to find all these idents especially Wallace and Gromit. I was wondering if I could get all these idents onto a DVD with the Wallace and Gromit idents.

RW replies: 'Clean' copies of the Wallace and Gromit BBC2 idents are available on the 'Wallace and Gromit - Three Cracking Adventures' DVD

Comments: Its a great site, but please why are you so against us Irish. I was looking at your Eurovision pages, and I am offended by your remarks. Just that aspect I didn't like, the rest of the site if excellemt!!!

RW replies: Sorry for any offence, however none was intended. Any gentle joshing is most certainly not directed towards the countries themselves - remember, the Eurovision is treated as one big joke in the UK!

Comments: Amazing site, what a trip through my life interms of BBC Christmas symbols! Here is a list I made years ago of BBC1 decorations. 1977 = revolving Christmas pudding. 1978 = revolving Father Christmas head. 1979 = revolving model Christmas carolers with dog around a gas lamp. 1980 = four model Victorian skaters around a snowman. 1981 = amazing, four hanging mini glass globes each hanging from ribbon and all rotating in a revolving mix. 1982 + 83 = you have shown the glass snow flake with twisting arms. 1984 = three revolving snowmen pulling apart a cracker ejecting a BBC1 ident. 1985 =not sure not on my list! 1986 = three revolving model robins in woodland scene. 1987 = revolving "CHRISTMAS" around large frosted 1. I loved everyone of them. Never thought I would ever share it with anyone.

RW replies: Almost right - however the manic robins date from 1985 not 1986. See BBC Television Idents for more festive presentation from the past

Comments: Hi ,I'm Jack & I'm 11 years old & i think this site is so cool . I keep on going on it because i like it so much. My favourite bit's the idents. I love idents & all my friends think I'm crazy because I always talk about idents & I had to tell my mum the meaning of the word ident. I complety agree with you about the DOG's .They're so annoying! p.s. i think that there should be an area about the channel logos.

Comments: Heyas, Great to see & download the great Mark & Lard stuff on your site, as well as the rest of the TV nostalgia bitz. My only quibble about the content is that about the Eurovision Song Contest. The whole thing (IMO) makes me ask one question - WHY?! What practical purpose does it serve? What is the point of it? Maybe it's because I'm heterosexual, but if it was totally serious with top-notch bands playing in such (i.e. Radiohead & Coldplay et al representing this country) I'd definitely watch it. But it's too kitsch for my liking; perhaps that's why there's yet to be a gay team enter (oo-er!) "Robot Wars"?!

RW replies: The Eurovision Song Contest serves no practical purpose whatsoever - that's why I love it!

Comments: I've been watching Eurovision since 1785 but still there hasn't been one really decent song yet. Why can't we all vote for the worst song and throw rotten kippers at the winner..or a soiled footstuff of the individual netion's choice?

RW replies: No decent songs ever?! I rather liked the 1993 Croatia entry...

Monday May 24 2004 - 19:07:16
Name: Les MacD

Where are you from?: Scotland
Comments: Saw this letter in the Scotsman newspaper. If it were the case the 'political' voting could deliver upwards to 72 points in the British isles: Eurovision I have a solution to the Eurovision doldrums. Since other countries have stopped being part of artificial states and vote for their neighbours, why don’t the countries of the United Kingdom do likewise? Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland could add their votes to those of the Irish Republic. And the Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey could also join in. Christopher MacDiarmid, GLASGOW

RW replies: If you can't beat them, join them I suppose...
