You know the way the BBC diched the globe they stll use it on news 6! RW replies: I don't think the fact that BBC News uses a globe on its opening titles has anything whatsoever to do with BBC1 ditching it as the channel ident!

Thursday March 24 2005 - 22:31:00 Name: Ross Jackson Where are you from?: Hertfordshire Comments: This is the best website of this type i have seen!!! Sound clips and vid clips really bring the memories back.As a thirtysomething person, i remember a lot of these shows featured and it brings back happy memories, especially the kids shows. It really brings home to me the quality of kids shows then and shows how poor the shows being produced in the last 10 years or so! I would though like to see some content of Marmalade Atkins,i loved this show and there is not enough on the web. Clips would be great, even if just a tribute to the late Charlotte coleman.
Thursday March 24 2005 - 18:20:17 Name: Graham Where are you from?: Dublin, Ireland Comments: You have an excellent site - well done, a great resource. Regarding widescreen, I couldn't agree more about the cropping of archive footage, it is a terrible practice. As for widescreen in general, it's not something I'm mad about at all for studio production. All standard subject framing techniques built up over the past 70 years in 4:3 have gone out the window now. I find the framing now used by the BBC totally inferior to 4:3 - the subject is invariably framed using an MCU, with hardly any headroom to make them as large as possible in the newly shaped frame which simply doesn't fit the upper body shape - and with acres of looking space. Horrible!

Tuesday March 08 2005 - 12:37:27 Name: Wil Where are you from?: England Comments: I keep telling myself it's daft to keep looking backwards in your life. After all, I have a fantastic familly now and can actually afford the toys I want! However, I can't help but wipe a tear of nostalgia at the stuff I've read here. Simpler times and a better pace of life. You'd think that with the plethora of channels now on satellite you could manage to do something that reflected those times. Educational stuff in the morning, maybe a Pebble Mill and a Watch With Mother at lunchtime. Kids in the early evening etc. I know, highly unlikely and copyright problems everywhere. But it'd beat the hell out of Ideal World Create and Craft! Great site! Wil

Wednesday March 02 2005 - 10:34:15 Name: Peter Huxley Where are you from?: Manchester Comments: The site is wonderful. As a collector of Radio Times I find it an invaluable reference. My only complaint is that only about 50% of the covers are shown. Also the Susan Hampshire cover from January 1974 is from "The Pallisers", not "The Forsyte Saga". Is there a similar site for the "TV Times" ? Thanks for a brilliant website.
RW replies: Now corrected!

Monday January 31 2005 - 05:12:47 Name: Allan Where are you from?: Auckland, New Zealand Comments: Great website... stirred some great nostalgia for me after emigrating to NZ 10 years ago. BTW the "Phantom Phone Box" which you describe as "one of the most innovative features I have ever heard on radio " in the piece on Pat Marsh... I think you'll find the exact same idea (and indeed the name, too) was first used in the early 1980s by Kevin Stewart, a Saturday morning jock on Radio Orwell/Saxon Radio. Very good he was too....
