Monday May 23 2005 - 22:14:23 Name: John Archbold Where are you from?: Comments: your quote - I am one of those early "Baby-boomers" - born in 1952: What a wonderfully nostalgic trip through the years of Radio and TV broadcasting... Sunday May 22 2005 - 16:17:40 Name: Michael Shields Where are you from?: Abergavenny, Monmouthshire Comments: I am one of those early "Baby-boomers" - born in 1952: What a wonderfully nostalgic trip through the years of Radio and TV broadcasting. The memories of my childhood and teenage years come flooding back as I recall the various programmes on both the Light Programme/Radio 2 (and particularly BBC TV - before there was a BBC2 option for us!). During the Early 60s as a child - Who can ever forget the likes of the "Whirlybirds", and "Blue Peter" with Christopher Trace and Valerie Singleton. The opening sequence of "Grandstand" with the view of the old three turret BBC TV cameras swinging in ones direction! I could ramble on and on... but I know I should end here. Please keep this web site running. I would love to see some more photos of actual 50s'/60s' "Radio Times" pages. In this age of slick and cheaply produced reality TV productions, it is good to remind people that once, there was an age of pioneering and original programming that had an air of innocence, quite lost in todays TV output. Keep up the good work! Regards Michael Shields

RW replies: Radio Times covers are added to the site on an ongoing basis, however there are fewer covers from the earlier years are due to their increased rarity. As for a 'latest updates' section - it's on the front page!

Thursday May 19 2005 - 13:53:33 Name: mick Where are you from?: UK Comments: Just a quick note re the 1963 contest. You have Ester Orafim representing Switzerland. That should be Esther Ofarim (one half of Esther & Abi Ofarim, who topped the singles chart in 68 with Cinderella Rockefella). Abi played on the Euro entry, apparently. Just thought you might find this useful.
RW replies: Sorry, just a typing error - now corrected!

Friday May 06 2005 - 21:03:37 Name: Sam Comments: Just so you know Mike Read is going to be a DJ with the new station Radio London. The station is (re)launching on May 14th in Frinton, Essex, at 2pm in Harwich Harbour. They've found a way to broadcast legally this time (if you weren't aware, Radio London was an active pirate station in the 60s but got closed down by Parliament) so it should be interesting to see and listen in to. Cliff Richard is opening the station so it sounds like its going to be pretty big. Sam

Sunday May 01 2005 - 05:19:18 Name: John Archbold E-mail: Where are you from?: Comments: would like discussion about Radio Times in the past from 1950's to 1990's, articles, TV Listings, letters, Covers, photos, drawings. Friday April 22 2005 - 15:27:31 Name: Paul Where are you from?: Milton Keynes Comments: Great website but as always with a good idea - please can we have more ? I'd like to see more listings. At present there is only 1 day per month per year plus the Christmas Day listings. These listings are important items of social history, and excellent fodder for us anoraks who are interested in 1970's trivia. It's far easier to follow the time line of a particular TV series if there is more than one days listings available to look through. Equally the articles and letters in the Radio Times must be as interesting as they reflect the spirit of the times just as much. Yes I know that they're available in the British Library, but not everyone lives in London you know. RW replies: Sorry, I don't have any plans to expand the television listings much further, mainly due to webspace limits and the sheer amount of time it would take to type them all up, as well as the desire to keep the site accessible for casual web surfers

The clips and information are also good. But I think you need to include more from around the rest of the UK, not just the South East.
