The idents Other presentation

On 7th October 2006, BBC1's dancers were sent down the job centre at long last, and in their place were idents featuring surfers, motorcyclists, kites, hippos and the moon. texthough erstwhile controller Peter Fincham stopped short of reintroducing the globe, the linking themes of the circle and rotation subtly hark back to past eras of BBC1 presentation.

The circle idents, produced by Red Bee Media (formerly BBC Broadcast Ltd), replaced the much-derided 'rhythm and movement' idents which had been on air for four-and-a-half years - in fact, just over two weeks longer than their much more popular predecessors, the balloons. Meanwhile the red box and the Gill Sans upper case 'ONE' also disappeared, with 'one' now written in a custom lower case font in the centre of the circle.

The original eight clips have been augmented by further idents during 2007 and 2008, which have become progressively more elaborate and bizzare!
