The Radio Times is the BBC's radio and television listings magazine, first published on 28 September 1923, around ten months after the BBC began broadcasting. From March 1991 it began carrying listings for commercial channels.

The Radio Times produced some wonderful artwork, especially on its cover, over the years. During the 1930s there were many special numbers with illustrated colour covers. The outbreak of war saw the end of them; colour covers were resumed on occasion from 1964, then every week from 1967. Unfortunately the 1988 Armada issue was the end of an era; the Radio Times took a new direction and artwork was no longer an integral part of the magazine. Subsequent covers became much more gaudy with banal coverlines.

Throughout this section, you can hover the pointer over the cover for more information (please note that I do not personally own all of the Radio Times issues featured). Christmas covers are featured separately. Each page contains links to Telly Years which contains a Radio Times listing from one particular day in each featured year, along with commentary on the development of RT itself, and even more covers!
